SCIENCE FROM NATURE
ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM is a high concentration and stable formula
with powerful natural active ingredients.
1 Powerful PROTECTIVE shield with antioxidant and antipollution action.
2 ANTI-SPOT and LIGHTNING intensive action

Reasons for skin pigmentation
The pigmentation processes
1. The melanin pigments (melanosomes) are produced at the basal layer
of the skin by the melanocytes.
2. They are transferred by the dendrites from the melanocytes to the
keratinocytes which are the constituents of the superficial layer of the
skin (epidermis).
3. During the epidermis turnover (30 days), the keratinocytes carry the
melanosome and move until the top until they die and disappear under
the form of dead skin.CONFIDENTIAL FOR INTERNAL USE – DO NOT DISTRIBUTE WITHOUT ALPHASCIENCE SAS AUTHORISATION
The factors for pigmentation disorder:
The melanocyte activity is induced by the following factors:
• the α MSH hormone which activity is related by both UV and hormone
levels (changes with periods, menopause, aging)
• the inflammation and oxidative stress induced by pollution, acne and
cosmetic procedures such as laser, chemical peels, surgery.
• the excess of iron in the dermis caused by aging or injury. That is why
aging skin needs more vitamin C to control the iron levels in the skin
ACETYL GLYCYL ß-ALANINE: powerful potent spot corrector and
brightening peptide – How our whitening works?
ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM is the only product that will treat all the factors for
skin pigmentation with its complete formula:
1. It is a potent and stable antioxidant complex to block the effect of free
radicals (oxidative stress) induced by pollution, acne and cosmetic
procedures such as laser, chemical peel. In addition, the phytic acid has a
direct effect by neutralizing the pollutants.
2. Acetyl glycyl ß-alanine is a potent spot corrector and brightening peptide.
Acetyl glycyl ß-alanine, L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and phytic acid have a
direct action on the melanocyte and regulate its activity.
3. Vitamin C and phytic acid control iron levels in the skin.
4. Acetyl glycyl β-alanine and L-ascorbic acid limit melanin transfer by
weakening dendrite and causing phagocytosis of cells.
5. L-ascorbic acid and phytic acid allow the elimination of dead cells.
The activity of ALPHA BRIGHT serum on oxidative stress makes it the best
treatment to be used after aesthetic procedure to avoid the pigmentary
rebound, that is why the doctors recommend it to be used on a daily basis
after all pigmentation procedures.CONFIDENTIAL FOR INTERNAL USE – DO NOT DISTRIBUTE WITHOUT ALPHASCIENCE SAS AUTHORISATION

PHYTIC ACID: antioxidant, pollutant scavenger, regulates pigmentation.

Phytic acid is a unique active ingredient to prevent and
correct skin aging. Used in high concentration in our
serum, it is suitable for skin under oxydative stress,
notably in urban environment. In addition, is has an
excellent synergic effect with vitamin C.
Phytic acid is found in plant seeds. It serves as the main
storage form of phosphorus in the seeds. When seeds
sprout, phytic acid is degraded and the phophorus
released for use by the young plant.
Protection against pollutants
The latest dermatological clinical studies show that air pollution multiplies
undesirable UV radiation effects on skin cells- increasing the photo-actinic damages thereby causing wrinkles, brown spots, melasma and skin sagging.1
Phytic Acid has the strong ability to chelate multivalent metal ions, especially zinc,
calcium and iron. The binding can result in very insoluble salts that are poorly
absorbed. Alternatively, the ability of Phytic Acid to chelate minerals has been
reported to have some protective effects, such as decreasing iron-mediated cancer
risk and lowering serum cholesterol and triglycerides.
Powerful antioxidant
Phytic Acid is a powerful natural antioxidant2
It also decreases the rate of lipid peroxidation3. The lipid peroxidation is the
process in which free radicals “steal” electrons from the lipids in cell membranes by
a free radical chain reaction mechanism resulting in cell damages.
Moisturizing and sebum control
Use of a 0.5% phytic acid formula regulates the sebum level in both dry skins and
oily skins to a value between 100 and 130 μg/cm2, which is the value for a normal
skin. This result is due to absorption of phytic acid into the pores after its
penetration into stratum corneum and consequently maintaining the appropriate
amout of sebum secreted from the sebaceous gland.

VITAMIN C IN ITS NATURAL FORM (L-ASCORBIC ACID), STABILIZED AT 8%
In its natural form (L- ascorbic acid), Vitamin C is one of the most effective an- tiaging ingredients but also the most unstable:
– in surface, L-ascorbic acid boosts epidermis turnover to increase skin
radiance and refine skin texture.
– At dermal level numerous studies678 proved that L-ascorbic acid boosts
collagen synthesis to reduce wrinkles and smooth the skin.
– It is also one of the most powerful anti-free radicals able to protect from
oxidative factors responsible for the premature aging of the skin (UV, stress,
pollution.
– Blocks melanin transfer through a weakening action on dendrites9
The vitamin C is not synthetized by human body and needs external intake.

How do we stabilize L-Ascorbic Acid in high concentration?
Thanks to its control of the chemical characteristics of vitamin C, Alphascience has
developed a technology based on a unique associative complex of powerful
antioxidants, which ensures the stabilization of highly concentrated L-ascorbic
acid.

ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM – CLINICAL STUDIES
«6 MONTHS CLINICAL TRIAL TO ASSESS THE DEPIGMENTING EFFICIENCY
OF A STABLE ANTIOXIDANT SERUM VERSUS HYDROQUINONE 2%
WITH 40 PATIENTS ON FACIAL HYPERPIGMENTATION»
Dra Natalia Guadalupe Pérez Leal
Dra María Ivonne Arellano Mendoza
Hospital General de México Dr. Eduardo Liceaga, Mexico
ABSTRACT
This study is an evaluation of the depigmenting efficacy of an antioxidant serum
(ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM®) versus a reference treatment (Hydroquinone 2%) in 40
patients with melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation for 6 months. This
clinical trial reveals both treatments used have similar efficacy. An average severity
decreases of 28% was observed in melasma and 41% severity decrease in postinflammatory hyper-pigmentation. The best responses were observed in melasma
patients, where some patients presented improvements of 71%.
RESULTS
• MELASMA
The overall MASI measurement of the whole face showed an average decrease of
28% after 6 months (p 0.204) with a MASI score decreasing from 19 to 14.
The comparison between the 2 treatments HYDROQUINONE 2% and ALPHA
BRIGHT SERUM® showed equal reduction of pigmentation after 2 months (-11% VS –
12%) and 4 months (-14% VS -12%).
The decrease continued between 4 months and 6 months by -14% when exclusively
treated with ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM®.
According to the graph below we can note the decrease of the MASI score by
HYDROQUINONE 2% treatment and ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM® at T0, T2 months, T4
months and T6 months.
• POST INFLAMMATORY HYPERPIGMENTATIONCONFIDENTIAL FOR INTERNAL USE – DO NOT DISTRIBUTE WITHOUT ALPHASCIENCE SAS AUTHORISATION
The measurement of PAHPI on both sides of the face showed a decrease of 41% (p
0.0001) after 6 months, decreasing from 13.2 to 7.7.
According to the graph below we can note the decrease of the PAHPI score by
HYDROQUINONE 2% treatment and ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM® at T0, T2 months, T4
months and T6 months.
CONCLUSION
Both treatments used for 6 months have similar efficacy on post-inflammatory
hyperpigmentation and melasma. An average decrease of 28% was observed in
melasma and 41% decrease in post-inflammatory pigmentation. One patient achieved
a decrease in pigmentation up to 71% on melasma.
The ALPHA BRIGHT SERUM® have antioxidant depigmenting action, also decreased
pigmentation after the use of hydroquinone 2% treatment. It can therefore be an
interesting option after hydroquinone treatment to manage residual pigmentation
and also as a maintenance therapy for melasma and PIH. Skin texture improved and
patients referred satisfaction with the treatment with this serum.
